Gnosis+ Terms of Service
Last updated: October 18, 2026
Welcome to Gnosis+ (“Gnosis+,” “we,” “us,” or “the site”). Gnosis+ is a project operated by a volunteer committee of contributors (the “Committee”). By accessing or using this site, you agree to the terms below. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. Nature of the Content
- 1.1 All reviews, ratings, rankings, and commentary published on Gnosis+ (of albums, singles, or any other release type; each is an “entry” in the database) are the personal opinions of the individual reviewer, writer, or author, not statements of fact, and not the official position of Gnosis+ as a whole.
- 1.2 Ratings and scores are subjective judgments. They may be revised, retracted, or reinterpreted at any time without notice, and different reviewers may disagree with one another.
- 1.3 We make no warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, or currency of any review, metadata (release dates, track listings, personnel credits, etc.), or other information on the site. Errors happen. Please verify anything you rely on independently.
- 1.4 Gnosis+ is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any artist, band, label, streaming platform, or distributor mentioned on the site, unless explicitly stated otherwise.
2. Intellectual Property
- 2.1 Album covers, promotional photos, and any audio excerpts that appear on Gnosis+ remain the property of their respective rights holders. Where we display such material, we do so under fair use for the purpose of commentary and criticism, or with permission where obtained.
- 2.2 Band names, release titles, and label names may be trademarks of their respective owners. Their use on this site is for identification and critical commentary only, and does not imply any endorsement or association.
- 2.3 Original written content, site design, and graphics created by Gnosis+ contributors are owned by Gnosis+ or the individual contributor. You may quote brief excerpts with attribution and a link back to the original content; wholesale reproduction of this site requires our permission.
- 2.4 If you believe content on Gnosis+ infringes your copyright, see Section 6 (Copyright Complaints).
3. User-Generated Content
- 3.1 By posting a comment, rating, review, or other content on Gnosis+, or contributing such content for posting, you grant Gnosis+ a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to display, reproduce, and distribute that content on the site and in related promotional materials.
- 3.2 You are solely responsible for what you post. Prohibited content includes, but is not limited to: harassment or targeted abuse of artists, staff, or other users; defamatory statements presented as fact; spam, advertising, or off-topic promotional content; and content that infringes someone else’s intellectual property rights.
- 3.3 Gnosis+ has no obligation to monitor user content, but reserves the right to remove, edit, or hide any content, and to suspend or ban a user's access, at its sole discretion and without notice.
4. Disclaimer of Warranties
- 4.1 The site is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including (without limitation) warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
- 4.2 We do not guarantee that the site will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.
5. Limitation of Liability
- 5.1 To the fullest extent permitted by law, Gnosis+, its Committee, contributors, and reviewers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, reliance on any review or rating, or inability to access the site.
- 5.2 Nothing in this section is intended to expand any individual’s personal liability beyond what applicable law would otherwise impose.
6. Copyright Complaints (DMCA-style Notice and Takedown)
- 6.1 If you believe material on Gnosis+ infringes your copyright, please send a written notice to committee@gnosisratings.com that includes: identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed; identification of the material you claim is infringing, with enough detail for us to locate it; your contact information (name, address, phone, email); a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notice is accurate and that you're authorized to act on behalf of the rights holder; and your physical or electronic signature.
- 6.2 On receiving a valid notice, we will review it and remove or disable access to the material as appropriate, and notify the user who posted it, if applicable.
- 6.3 Gnosis+ is run by volunteers, so please allow reasonable time for us to evaluate a complaint before we act on it. We will work through notices as promptly as we can, but we do not guarantee a specific response time, and a delay in review should not be taken as acceptance or rejection of the complaint.
- 6.4 Gnosis+ may disregard, deprioritize, or refuse to respond to notices that are repetitive, incomplete, submitted in bad faith, or that otherwise appear designed to harass or overwhelm our review process rather than address a genuine infringement concern. We reserve the right to limit correspondence with, or bar future submissions from, anyone who abuses this process.
7. Third-Party Services, Links, and External Data Sources
- 7.1 Gnosis+ may link to, embed, or query third-party services, including streaming platforms, online stores, artist websites, donation or support widgets (such as our Ko-fi contribution widget), and external music catalogs or databases used to assist with album identification, duplicate detection, or metadata review. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of those services.
- 7.2 A link, an embedded widget, or a catalog query does not imply endorsement by Gnosis+ of the third-party service or its content.
- 7.3 Information drawn from an external catalog or database is treated as corroborating information. It does not automatically determine or override Gnosis+ metadata, ratings, or database records — see also our Corrections Policy (Section 10).
- 7.4 Where Gnosis+ queries an external catalog service, only information reasonably necessary to perform the check (such as artist names, entry titles, or external release identifiers) is sent. Gnosis+ does not send passwords, session identifiers, private notes, or personal profile information to a catalog service merely to perform such a check.
- 7.5 If Gnosis+ enables access to the Discogs API, this section will be updated to include the attribution notice Discogs requires of API users.
8. Indemnification
- 8.1 You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Gnosis+, its Committee, contributors, and reviewers from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the site, your violation of these terms, or content you post.
9. Editorial Independence and Promotional Materials
- 9.1 Reviewers at Gnosis+ may receive promotional copies, advance streams, physical or digital press kits, or early review access from labels, artists, publicists, or distributors in the course of covering an album. Receiving such materials does not obligate a reviewer to publish a review, does not guarantee any particular rating or outcome, and does not influence the editorial independence of the coverage.
- 9.2 Gnosis+ reviewers are not paid by, and do not accept payment from, artists or labels in exchange for coverage or favorable treatment.
10. Corrections Policy
- 10.1 If you spot a factual error in a review or on the site (an incorrect release date, mislabeled track, wrong personnel credit, and similar issues), please let us know at committee@gnosisratings.com with a description of the error and, where possible, a source. This is separate from the copyright complaint process in Section 6 and does not require a formal notice. It is also separate from the account-level correction and privacy requests described in our Privacy Policy (Section 10).
- 10.2 We will review flagged corrections and update the content where warranted, at our discretion and on a timeline that reflects our volunteer capacity.
- 10.3 Corrections to factual errors are distinct from disagreements with a reviewer’s opinion or rating, which we will not alter on request.
11. Entire Agreement
- 11.1 These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Gnosis+ regarding your use of the site, and supersede any prior discussions, understandings, or agreements, whether written or oral, on the same subject.
12. No Waiver
- 12.1 If Gnosis+ does not enforce a provision of these terms on a particular occasion, that does not waive our right to enforce it later. No waiver of any provision will be effective unless made in writing.
13. Assignment
- 13.1 Gnosis+ may assign or transfer these terms, in whole or in part, without notice to you, including in connection with a restructuring, merger, or transfer of the site to a successor entity. You may not assign or transfer your rights or obligations under these terms without our prior written consent.
14. Changes to These Terms
- 14.1 We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
15. Termination
- 15.1 We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to Gnosis+ at any time, for any reason, including violation of these terms.
16. Governing Law and Disputes
- 16.1 These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
17. Severability
- 17.1 If any provision of these terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will stay in full effect.
18. Contact
- 18.1 Questions about these terms can be sent to committee@gnosisratings.com.
19. AI-Assisted Development and Maintenance
- 19.1 The Committee uses AI-assisted coding tools (currently Anthropic's Claude Code) to help write, review, and maintain the Gnosis+ codebase. These tools are used by the Committee as a development aid and do not have standing or automatic access to the live database.
- 19.2 AI-assisted tools are not used to make ratings, moderation, or account decisions about you; those decisions are made by human Committee administrators. See our Privacy Policy (Section 8.5) for how these tools relate to your information.
20. Official Community Spaces
- 20.1 Gnosis+ may operate official discussion or community spaces through third-party services, including Discord. Participation is voluntary and limited to people the Committee admits, which is currently active Gnosis+ raters. Participation may be subject to these terms, any rules posted for that community, and the terms and policies of the third-party platform. Gnosis+ does not control those platforms.
- 20.2 Gnosis+ may moderate participation in its official community spaces, and may remove content, restrict access, or remove a person from a community space where appropriate, at the Committee’s discretion. The prohibited content described in Section 3.2 also applies in those spaces.
- 20.3 Removal or restriction in a community space does not by itself suspend or terminate a Gnosis+ account, and the suspension or termination of a Gnosis+ account does not delete ratings or contributions already made to the Gnosis+ database.
- 20.4 Ordinary conversation in an official community space is discussion. The license in Section 3.1 applies to content posted on Gnosis+ or contributed to Gnosis+ for posting, and does not apply to messages posted in a community space unless you specifically submit or authorize that content for publication on Gnosis+.
- 20.5 Official community spaces are for discussion only. They are not the Gnosis+ database of record. Ratings, entry submissions, corrections, and profile changes are made through the Gnosis+ website and its administrative processes, and a statement made in a community space does not by itself change any Gnosis+ record.
See also our Privacy Policy for how we handle account, rating, and submission information.
